Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles). We also manage the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health.

We have a specialist interest in neck and back pain, but when we assess patients, we take their entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account (British Chiropractic Association).

Chiropractic adjustments of the spine and the limbs help to restore normal joint motion and function. In turn, this helps to reduce mechanical and chemical irritation to the surrounding tissues. The result of this is reduced pain, relaxed muscles and improved coordination.

Adjustments are normally just one part of the integrated approach of sports chiropractic care.

Yes, Chiropractic treatment is safe for people of all ages and backgrounds. A thorough history and exam will help to determine if we can help you and how best to safely proceed. If you have any concerns before we start with treatment then just let us know and we will be happy to accommodate. You can find out more information on Chiropractic treatment here.

It is believed by many people that the sound during an adjustment is the bone going back into place. However this is not the case. The crack that is heard is simply a bubble of gas escaping from the fluid (known as the synovium) within the joint.

This crack is not necessary for the adjustment to produce positive effects.

No. Once we’ve reached the goals that you created during the initial consultation we will not keep you coming back indefinitely. At this stage however many people choose to continue coming in sporadically for maintenance check ups because it helps them thrive.

Chiropractic treatment can be a useful part to many people’s health maintenance plan, similar to proper diet, exercise and sleep. You can find out more information on exercise’s importance for injury recovery here.
